About this wine
Am Berg has been Bernhard Ott's entry-level Grüner Veltliner — and the lightest in his range — since 1994, yet it is hand-picked and vinified with the same care as his single-vineyard wines. The vines, 15 to 25 years old, grow on loess at the foot of the estate's key slopes on the Wagram and in the Kamptal. Fermentation is spontaneous, with a pied de cuve, and the wine is raised mostly in stainless steel with some large Stockinger casks, aiming to show Grüner Veltliner and loess as precisely as possible: light, elegant and precise.
