About this wine
The Clos de la Maladière is a walled vineyard planted in the heart of Beaune and owned solely by Cauvard. The white is fermented and aged in oak on its lees with regular stirring and full malolactic fermentation. The 2023 is a deep yellow-gold, with an expressive, buttery nose of white flowers and citrus, and a round, intense, structured palate with long persistence. The domaine suggests drinking it through about 2030.

from the producer
Domaine Cauvard is a family estate based in Beaune, with vines across the Côte de Beaune — Beaune and its premiers crus, Volnay, Pommard, Aloxe-Corton and Chorey — including two monopoles, the Clos de la Maladière in Beaune and Les Monts Battois. Vines are farmed under integrated pest management, mostly ploughed and fed only natural compost; grapes are sorted on a table and the wines spend 12 to 15 months in barrel.
