About this wine
Les Herses 2022 is a single-vineyard Sancerre from Gitton Père & Fils, the Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre family estate begun by Marcel and Huguette Gitton in 1945. The 2.5-hectare, east-facing parcel sits on Sparnacien limestone and flint, planted between 1961 and 1972. Hand-picked grapes ferment with indigenous yeasts, then age 10 months in large 30-hectolitre Slavonian oak. Citrus, green apple and peach meet a distinct minerality, with honeyed notes and vibrant acidity.

from the producer
Gitton Père et Fils began in 1945, when Marcel and Huguette Gitton started with a very small vineyard. The family’s site-by-site approach grew into a 33-hectare estate spanning three appellations. Pascal Gitton shaped the current company, and daughter Chanel now continues the family work, with wines made exclusively from estate-grown and estate-bottled fruit.
