About this wine
The Federalist is a California wine brand with an American-history theme. Its Zinfandel comes from Lodi, an inland appellation known for old, sun-ripened Zinfandel vines.
The blend is 93% Zinfandel and 7% Syrah. Each vineyard block is fermented separately, spending around 12 days on the skins, and the wine is then aged for 12 months in oak, 25% of it new. The result is a fruity, peppery Zinfandel with a long, smooth finish. This is the 2018 vintage.
