About this wine
Vellodoro is Umani Ronchi’s Pecorino, part of the Marche house’s project, begun in 2005, to revive this low-yielding native Abruzzo grape prized for its acidity. Fruit comes from the estate at Roseto degli Abruzzi, facing the Gran Sasso, and from selected growers in northern Chieti, on deep clay-sand soils. Hand-picked in September, the grapes are lightly pressed, fermented in stainless steel at 16–18°C without malolactic, and the wine rests about four months on its own yeasts. The 2025 shows intense fruit and flowers with clear mineral notes, and a structured, fresh palate of ripe fruit with a sapid edge.
