Caymus Vineyards was founded in Rutherford, in the heart of Napa Valley, in 1972 by Chuck Wagner and his parents, Lorna and Charlie Sr. That first year they made just 240 cases of Cabernet. The winery is still 100% family-owned, and Charlie and Jenny Wagner now carry it forward.
Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet comes from low-fertility soils on both the valley floor and the surrounding mountains. The family uses some dry farming and dense plantings, thins the crop, and picks at high ripeness. The house style is dark and concentrated, with ripe, plush fruit that's ready on release but structured enough to age. This is the 2020 vintage.

Chuck Wagner founded Caymus Vineyards in Rutherford in 1972 with his parents, Lorna and Charlie Sr., making just 240 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon that first year. The family's roots in Napa go back to the 1880s.
Caymus is still 100% family-owned. Chuck's children, Charlie and Jenny Wagner, now help run the farming and winemaking. The best barrels of each Napa vintage are set aside for Caymus Special Selection.
