About this wine
Château d'Yquem is the only Sauternes ranked Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 Classification, a rank above every other sweet Bordeaux. Its botrytis-affected grapes are picked by hand in several passes through the vineyard, sometimes berry by berry, to make one of the world's most celebrated and longest-lived sweet wines.
The 2019 is unusual for Yquem: it's 55% Sémillon and 45% Sauvignon Blanc, the highest share of Sauvignon in the estate's modern history. Harvest took place in October.
