About this wine

Duckhorn has made Napa Cabernet since 1978, blending estate and top grower fruit from mountain and valley-floor sites and adding a little Merlot for approachability. The 2020 season was mild until late-September wildfires and heat, so selection was strict and the crop smaller. Aged 16 months in French oak (half new), it shows huckleberry, cardamom, graham cracker, dark chocolate and violets, then boysenberry and black tea over fine tannins. This is the 375 ml half bottle.

Duckhorn Vineyards was founded in Napa Valley in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. Its first vintage, 1978, included a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Merlot — inspired by a visit to Bordeaux — and Sauvignon Blanc followed in 1982. It is based in St. Helena.
