About this wine

Mendel's 2022 Malbec comes from Finca Mendel in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, where the vines average more than ninety years of age. Grapes are hand-sorted, fermented in small tanks with manual punch-downs and macerated for around 25 days, then aged a year in oak barrels and bottled without filtering. The result is a full-bodied, dense Malbec with dark plum and raspberry fruit, a sweet oak and espresso frame, and savory herbal detail.

Mendel Wines was founded in 2002 by Argentine winemaker Roberto de la Mota and an Argentine family. After studying in Montpellier and leading a major Argentine winery, de la Mota established his own estate. Mendel farms historic Malbec vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and focuses on expressing Mendoza’s distinctive soils, altitude and climate.
