About this wine

Mer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay 2023 is made by Charlie Wagner, of the Caymus family, from cool Monterey County vineyards rooted in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Bright sun and gusting coastal wind give the grapes a long hang time, building layered flavor while keeping natural acidity. Citrus, brown spice and honeysuckle lead into a round, creamy palate recalling lemon squares and baked croissant.

Mer Soleil began when Chuck Wagner looked down California’s coast for promising Chardonnay land and established roots in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Today his son Charlie Wagner leads the estate and makes the wines, focused on expressing Monterey’s rugged coastal landscape through Chardonnay.
