About this wine
Siccagno is Arianna Occhipinti's Nero d'Avola, named for the concentrated, dry-farmed grapes Sicilians call 'siccagna'. The vines, about 35 years old, grow at 280 metres on light sands over limestone near Vittoria and are farmed biodynamically. Fermentation is in cement with indigenous yeasts and 25 days on the skins, followed by long ageing in large oak casks. Occhipinti describes it as wild yet fresh and elegant, tasting of red fruits. This is the 2018 vintage.
