About this wine
Clark & Telephone is one of the Santa Maria Valley's historic vineyards. It was planted in 1972 with own-rooted Martini clone Pinot Noir, about 13 miles from the Pacific on a west-facing slope. Cool fog and ocean breezes push inland most of the season, so the grapes ripen slowly and hold on to their acidity.
Heavy pruning and crop thinning keep the clusters loose, with small, intensely flavored berries. The Martini clone is known for dense, dark-berry fruit and sweet baking-spice character. Belle Glos founder Joseph Wagner makes the wine in a layered, rich, fruit-forward style. This is the 2023 vintage.
