The Croce del Gal Black Label is Benedetti's limited-production Ripasso, a Valpolicella Classico Superiore given extra depth by a second pass over Amarone skins, using only estate grapes picked by hand in Gargagnago. Expect a deep garnet colour, aromas of fresh sweet fruit and red flowers touched by barrique, and a highly structured palate with elegant tannins and a fruity, spicy close. Benedetti Corte Antica is a family winery in Gargagnago, in the Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella area of the Valpolicella Classica zone. Brothers Giuseppe, Davide and Simone took over the vineyards of their father, Luigi, in 1995 and began making Amarone for sale in 2003. They use only estate-grown, hand-picked grapes from the Classico zone and from newer vineyards at Marcellise.
