About this wine
Benedetti's 2018 Ripasso begins as a Valpolicella Superiore from estate vineyards in Gargagnago, picked between late September and early October. In November the wine is passed over the lees of the family's Amarone, a second fermentation that deepens colour and flavour, then aged around 10 to 12 months in French oak casks of different sizes. Expect a garnet wine with ripe cherry and spice, a round, well-structured palate and a kirsch-like finish.

Benedetti Corte Antica is a family winery in Gargagnago, in the Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella area of the Valpolicella Classica zone. Brothers Giuseppe, Davide and Simone took over the vineyards of their father, Luigi, in 1995 and began making Amarone for sale in 2003. They use only estate-grown, hand-picked grapes from the Classico zone and from newer vineyards at Marcellise.
