About this wine
Castellare's Chianti Classico, first made in 1982, comes from 43 acres of calcareous clay-loam at 1,450 feet in Castellina, built on the estate's own Sangioveto clone with a little Canaiolo. It ferments with native yeasts and ages 14 months in barriques and tonneaux. Bright ruby, it shows tart red cherry, tobacco, sunbaked earth and a hint of cedar spice, with firm structure and refreshing acidity.
