About this wine
Pilùna means 'tufa pot' in Greek, a nod to the soils of Castello Monaci's Primitivo vineyards — bush and cordon-trained vines on deep, dry clay with tufaceous limestone. The 2020 is full-bodied and concentrated, with ripe black fruit, cherry preserve, pepper, vanilla and Mediterranean scrub, firm yet soft structure and a lingering liquorice finish.
