from the producer

Château de Mercuès overlooks the Lot valley near Cahors; once the summer residence of the bishops and counts of Cahors, it has belonged to the Vigouroux family — Malbec growers since 1887 — since 1983. Half of its 32 hectares of clay-limestone vineyard is planted at 6,666 vines per hectare, far denser than the Cahors norm.
