About this wine
Haut-Brion describes 2015 as perhaps the warmest, sunniest year on record in France: a long hot, dry spell gave excellent flowering, and timely August rain restored water reserves for full ripeness. Picked from 8 September to 5 October, the wine was aged in 78% new barrels and bottled in summer 2017. The estate notes a deep garnet colour, a ripe, concentrated nose of very ripe red and black fruit with liquorice and a hint of clove, a soft, voluminous palate with ripe fruit and cocoa bean, and a long mocha and coffee finish.

Château Haut-Brion, founded in 1533 by Jean de Pontac, is the oldest of Bordeaux's great growths and the only red outside the Médoc ranked a First Growth in 1855. Samuel Pepys praised its 'Ho-Bryan' in his diary in 1663. Its vineyard lies on multicoloured gravel in Pessac.
