About this wine
Clos La Gaffelière is the second wine of the Malet Roquefort family's Château La Gaffelière, from 20 hectares of clay hillsides and foothills, made in its own dedicated vat room and cellar. The 2018, 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, aged 12 months mostly in barrels that had held one or two wines, 15% new. Ripe red and black fruit with spice and cedar lead to a silky, structured palate with firm, elegant tannins and a long, mineral finish. Enjoyable now; it will keep to 2035–2040.
