About this wine
Château Lafite Rothschild was ranked first among Bordeaux's First Growths in the 1855 Classification and has belonged to the Rothschild family since 1868. Its 112 hectares in northern Pauillac lie on deep gravel over limestone, and only vines over 10 years old go into the grand vin.
The 1995 is 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. It followed a fine, sunny summer, interrupted by rain from 7 to 17 September before the sun returned. After blending, the wine spent a further 20 months in barrels, mostly new. Now three decades old, it's a mature bottle.
