About this wine
Château Lafite Rothschild was ranked first among Bordeaux's First Growths in the 1855 Classification and has belonged to the Rothschild family since 1868. Its 112 hectares in northern Pauillac lie on deep gravel over limestone, and only vines over 10 years old go into the grand vin.
The 2009 is 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. After a warm, very wet spring, the weather turned fine in June and stayed sunny through summer, with cool nights slowing ripening; picking began at the end of September in sunshine. The wine was aged 18 to 20 months entirely in new oak barrels.
