About this wine
Château Lafite Rothschild was ranked first among Bordeaux's First Growths in the 1855 Classification and has belonged to the Rothschild family since 1868. Its 112 hectares in northern Pauillac lie on deep gravel over limestone, and only vines over 10 years old go into the grand vin.
The 2010 is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot. A cold spell in early June hit the Merlot flowering, but July, August and September were very dry, with warm days and cool nights that let the grapes ripen slowly. After blending, it spent another 20 months in barrels, mostly new.
