About this wine

Cune Crianza — once labelled 'Tercer Año', or third year — is CVNE's everyday Rioja Alta red, blended from vineyards around Haro, about half of them the winery's own. In 2021 a dry early summer was rescued by September rains and a cool, sunny October, giving a slow ripening. After fermentation in steel the wine spent a year in used American oak, which shows as vanilla and toast around berry and liquorice fruit. Round and balanced, with a gently sweet finish. Suitable for vegans.

from the producer

Cune is the flagship label of CVNE (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España), founded in Haro, Rioja Alta, in 1879. The brand name itself came from a typo: the V of CVNE was written as a U on an early label, and the misspelling stuck.
