About this wine
This Gold Selection red comes from Tenuta Montecchiesi, the Dal Cero family's estate in Cortona, south-eastern Tuscany, bought in 1980 to make Tuscan reds. The vineyards lie between 260 and 350 metres on mainly clay soils that tend to give structured, long-lived wines. This is the 2011 vintage.

The Dal Cero family has made wine since 1934, when Augusto Dal Cero bought volcanic hillside land at Roncà near Verona. His sons Dario and Giuseppe added Tenuta Montecchiesi in Cortona, and the third generation - Davide, Nico and Francesca - created an estate in eastern Valpolicella, on a terrace above Verona with volcanic and limestone soils.
