About this wine
The 2016 Dal Cero Ripasso starts as a Valpolicella from the family's eastern Valpolicella vineyards, a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. In January, when the dried Amarone grapes are pressed, the wine is passed over the Amarone skins for seven to eight days, picking up depth and dried-fruit character, and then matures about a year in large French oak casks. Expect a rich ruby colour, sweet fruit and layered spice, and a full body kept lively by bright acidity.

The Dal Cero family has made wine since 1934, when Augusto Dal Cero bought volcanic hillside land at Roncà near Verona. His sons Dario and Giuseppe added Tenuta Montecchiesi in Cortona, and the third generation - Davide, Nico and Francesca - created an estate in eastern Valpolicella, on a terrace above Verona with volcanic and limestone soils.
- 2016 vintage, Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC
- 60% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, 10% Molinara
- Re-passed on Amarone pomace, aged 12 months in oak
