About this wine
From clay-limestone soils just north of Beaune, hand-harvested and aged in oak. The domaine calls Chorey light, supple and moderately tannic, with elegance ahead of power. The 2023 is a pale cherry red with violet glints, a rich nose of morello cherry and forest floor, and a supple, layered palate of jammy fruit. Drink through about 2031.

from the producer
Domaine Cauvard is a family estate based in Beaune, with vines across the Côte de Beaune — Beaune and its premiers crus, Volnay, Pommard, Aloxe-Corton and Chorey — including two monopoles, the Clos de la Maladière in Beaune and Les Monts Battois. Vines are farmed under integrated pest management, mostly ploughed and fed only natural compost; grapes are sorted on a table and the wines spend 12 to 15 months in barrel.
