About this wine
Modus, introduced in 1997, was Ruffino's first Super Tuscan; the name comes from the Latin for 'method' and 'measure'. It blends fruit from two estates — Poggio Casciano near Florence and La Solatìa near Siena — combining Sangiovese's elegance with the softness of Merlot and the power of Cabernet Sauvignon, plus a little Petit Verdot. After fermentation in steel it spends about a year in French oak barriques before bottling and further bottle age.

from the producer
Ruffino is a Tuscan wine house based at Pontassieve, near Florence. In 1890 the Duke of Aosta made it supplier to the Italian royal household — the origin of its Riserva Ducale, made since 1927. Today it has three estates and more than 200 hectares in Chianti Classico, plus estates elsewhere in Tuscany, and also makes wines from Orvieto, Veneto and Friuli.
