About this wine

Iris is a Toscana IGT red blend from Tenuta di Artimino, the historic estate around the Medici Villa La Ferdinanda in the Carmignano hills. The estate farms about 70 hectares of vines on a mosaic of sandstone, clay and limestone, in a microclimate shaped by the Arno river and the surrounding woods. Iris has drawn on Merlot alongside other varieties, with the blend changing over the years; this is the 2012 vintage.

Tenuta di Artimino surrounds the Medici Villa La Ferdinanda, the "Villa of a Hundred Chimneys" built for Grand Duke Ferdinando I and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Restored by cycling champion Giuseppe Olmo, the estate is run by his family's third generation and farms about 70 hectares of vines in the Carmignano and Montalbano hills.
