About this wine
Torcicoda is Tormaresca’s Primitivo from Masseria Maìme, the coastal estate near San Pietro Vernotico in Upper Salento, where vineyards sit between woodland, pine forest and the sea. The name recalls both an old horse-grooming tool and the coiling growth of the vine. The 2023 was picked from 13 to 20 September, macerated for about 13 days and aged in oak, 80% barriques and 20% tonneaux, none first-fill. Intense ruby with violet hues, it shows red fruit, black cherry and plum with licorice, vanilla and tobacco, and a soft, generous palate held by elegant tannins.

Tormaresca is the Antinori family's Apulian wine project, launched in 1998. The estate works across two distinctive settings: Bocca di Lupo in the Castel del Monte area and Masseria Maìme in Upper Salento. Its approach combines Apulian tradition with contemporary viticulture, highlighting both native varieties and internationally known grapes such as Chardonnay.
