About this wine
Tegolaia is the Chianti Rufina Riserva of Villa Travignoli, the Busi family estate at Pelago in the Rufina zone east of Florence. Mostly Sangiovese with small amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it comes from south-facing vineyards at 200–350 metres on marly, calcareous clay, picked in the first half of October. After ten days’ fermentation and malolactic in steel, it ages 24 months in oak barrels. Ruby red, the 2019 has an enveloping, savoury and persistent nose and a round, balanced palate of robust personality, with the potential to age 15–20 years.

Villa Travignoli is a historic estate in Pelago, in the Chianti Rufina zone east of Florence, documented since 1473 and owned by the Busi family since the 1800s. Giovanni Busi, who trained at Conegliano, introduced estate bottling and now runs it with his son Clemente, farming about 70 hectares of south-facing vines on marly, calcareous clay.
