Bowmore was founded in 1779 on the shores of Loch Indaal on the Isle of Islay, making it one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Its No. 1 Vaults warehouse sits below sea level, beside the waves.

Bowmore still malts some of its own barley on traditional floors and dries it over peat, giving a balance of gentle smoke and fruit that sits between Islay's lighter and heavier malts.
