Glenmorangie was founded in 1843 in Tain, in the Scottish Highlands. Its copper stills are among the tallest in Scotland, at about the height of an adult giraffe, so only the lightest, purest vapors reach the top, giving the whisky its delicate, fruity character.

The distillery is famous for its long work with cask finishes, pioneered under Dr Bill Lumsden, and for its sixteen "Men of Tain" who craft the whisky.
