About this whiskey
Michter's US*1 American Whiskey is aged in used, bourbon-soaked white oak barrels rather than new charred barrels, which by law means it cannot be called bourbon. The gentler barrel lets the grain and fruit show.
Officially it is deep butterscotch, vanilla and caramel with dried fruit, closing on a ripened-fruit finish. Smooth at 83.4 proof and easy to sip.

from the producer
Michter's traces its roots to a Pennsylvania distillery founded in 1753, making it one of the oldest whiskey names in America. The modern company revived the brand in the 1990s and today distills in Shively, Louisville, Kentucky, with a second distillery at Springfield Farm in Springfield, Kentucky.
Michter's is known for its painstaking approach: barrels are heat-cycled, whiskey goes into the barrel at a lower entry proof than is typical, and every batch must clear a tasting panel before release.
