About this whiskey
During Prohibition, Old Forester was one of a handful of distillers licensed to bottle whiskey for medicinal purposes, typically at a higher proof. The 1920 bottling recreates that style at 115 proof.
Official notes: cherry preserves, caramel, dark chocolate, maple syrup and spiced nuts; malt, chocolate, nougat, rye and cedar; toasted coconut and charred marshmallow on the finish.

Old Forester was founded in Louisville in 1870 by George Garvin Brown, a pharmaceutical salesman who wanted a whiskey of consistent quality. It became the first bourbon sold exclusively in sealed glass bottles, a guarantee against tampering.
Old Forester is the only bourbon continuously sold by the same family company before, during and after Prohibition, and today it is distilled on Whiskey Row in downtown Louisville.
