About this whiskey
Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 23 Year is the oldest bourbon in the family's range. Each barrel matures for 23 years and is selected from the heart of the warehouse, and the whiskey is bottled at 95.6 proof.
Expect caramel, ripe apples, cherries, oak and tobacco with a hint of chocolate. Pronounced wood flavors lead to a long, sweet caramel finish.

from the producer
The Van Winkle family's bourbon story begins with Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle Sr., who joined the W.L. Weller wholesale house in 1893 and later ran the Stitzel-Weller distillery in Louisville, famous for wheated bourbon. His grandson Julian Van Winkle III revived the family label, and since 2002 the whiskeys have been produced in partnership with Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Van Winkle bourbons are wheated, long-aged and released in very small quantities once a year, which makes them among the most sought-after American whiskeys.
